AATT's Preferences, from Prémonition Magazine, 1991

Simon Huw Jones Justin Jones Steven Burrows Nick Havas
Best Album In the early 80s, I would have said “Unknown Pleasures” by Joy Division, but that often changes. “Mother fist” (Marc Almond); “Draughtsman’s contract” and “Drowning by number” (M. Nyman). “I do not want” (Sinead O’Connor), “Climate of Hunter” (Scott Walker), or another album of all the hundreds I could add. “Secrets of the Beehive” (David Sylvian), “Spirit of Eden” (Talk Talk),
Most Hated Album I do not listen to records that I might hate! Maybe Phill Collins, or Aerosmith. Everything of Phill Collins Too many. I’ve been disappointed too much by New Order and Cocteau Twins, who didn’t make the classic albums of which they are capable. “Fisherman’s blues” (The Waterboys)
Best Concert Those of The Cure, when we did thgeir first party, that was extraordinary for us…. Joy Division was also a great live band, but nowadays, I mostly go and see Nick Cave, whose last concert in Birmingham was fantastic. Marc Almond, London, 1988 Iggy Pop (Birmingham 89), Einsturzende Neubauten (Rotterdam 89), Michael Nyman (Vienne 86), And Also The Trees (Paris Bataclan 89). The Waterboys (London), And Also The Trees (Paris Bataclan), Martyn Bates (London).
Best Movie “Blade Runner”, “Murder in an English garden”, “Wings of Desire”. “The Cook, th Thief, his Wife and her Lover”, by P. Greenaway. “37’2”, “Roma” (Fellini). “37’2”,”Psycho”, “The draughtsman’s contract”, and the last movie with Emmanuelle Béart.
Man of the Decade Gorbatchov, certainly. Mark Tibenham / Minou Myling. Hunter S. Thompson, for doing a great service to Literature, and Scott Walker. Mark Tibenham
Summary of the Decade Things have developed well, people have started to worry about polution. Maybe that will allow us to be more optimistic about the future. It started quite well, then it sagged a bit, but it improved again in the last quarter. I’ve discovered that life begins after Dover. A very long episode of “Twin Peaks”. 3652 bowls of cornflakes.
Most Remarkable Event I’ll chose two: the liberation of the East bloc, because nothing is more important, even if the game the media play probably makes us forget the capital things too soon. Musically, it’s sampling, because this makes it possible to produce very realistic sounds with a keyboard, very different from those in the early 80s. I’ve realised that I am a woman trapped in a man’s body. On a personal level, the birth of my brother Alexander (on the 7th of december, 1985). The re-unification of Germany. My voyages to India, the concert in Le Bataclan.
Person whose Death is Most Regretted Phil Collins Julius Caesar Reginald Allcock, my grandfather. Vincent van Gogh… his colours always speak. Ghandi
Resolutions for the Following Years To write better and more, better lyrics. To do something related to film. To be more prolific, and not to gain more weight. To grow old, but not mentally. To fall in love for ever. I don’t believe in them, because promises like these are broken too fast.
